The next book club will be on Wednesday, February 15th at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Marsha Blackman (525-2577, mbhb@cableone.net), 2754 Waterford Court (Shamrock Park)  Please notify Marsha if you will be attending.  The book we will be discussing is The HaHa by Dave King, historical fiction.  For those wanting to read ahead, our March selection is Shanghai Girls, historical fiction, by Lisa See.

OUT-TO-LUNCH

Several of the regular hikers in the Intrepid's group got together for lunch on January 6 to plan up-coming hikes.  Diana Layman announced that she needed to step down as group leader, and nominated Jon Bunnell to take over and the vote was cast.  He is writing to share the plans they came up with.  The new hiking schedule goes through March 16; after that we might want to make some changes.  I hope you will look over the schedule and join us for as many hikes as you can.  Notice that we are trying to accommodate people who can hike on Friday, but not Thursday, and vice versa, by alternating days.  Since this is (or supposed to be) winter, we will either hike or snowshoe depending on ground conditions; always bring the snowshoes.  Please let Jon Bunnell know if you do not want to be informed of hikes.  If you do plan to participate at least sometimes, please send him your phone number and mailing address.  Thanks.

NEW ACTIVITY – ONGOING “OUT AND ABOUT”

Please join us for a new monthly activity--"Wine-d on Wednesday."  Every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 4:00 p.m., all Newcomers are invited to 'drop in' for a glass of wine, conversation, and friendship at one of our local wine shops.  On Wednesday, February 8 at 4:00 p.m., we will be “wine-ing” at the Whinery, 468 N. Eastern Avenue (just down from the Museum of Idaho).  This is a fun, casual way to meet new friends, chat with old friends and just relax for a while.  Please feel free to come for a few minutes, an hour, or longer--even if you're not feeling like a relaxing glass of wine, the conversation will be great.  The owner of the Whinery has agreed donate a wine tasting basket for our holiday luncheon, so don’t forget to say thank you.  It is really casual, no need to RSVP . . . please just drop in.  If you have any questions, call Janice Woodward at 542-0139.
